Aerial Scene Capture, Newcastle and the Hunter

Incident sites and scenes, documented from the air.

Aerial scene capture is a capability we offer alongside factual, surveillance and incident investigations: still and video imagery of incident sites, workplaces, premises and plant, flown by a remote pilot licensed by CASA, for insurers, employers and solicitors.

The service

A record of the site, from above.

Aerial imagery shows the layout of a site in one frame: access routes, distances, sight lines and the condition of surfaces, plant and structures at a point in time. It sits alongside ground-level photographs and measurements in a factual or incident report, or is delivered on its own as a scene report.

Flights are carried out by a holder of a CASA Remote Pilot Licence on aircraft registered with CASA, within CASA's rules, and with the consent of the landowner or occupier. Aerial capture is used to record places. It is not used to watch or follow people.

What you receive

  • Geotagged still photographs of the site
  • Video of the site and its surrounds
  • Overview imagery showing the layout of the whole site
  • A capture log recording date, time, location and aircraft registration
  • Delivery with a written scene report, or within a factual or incident report

Limits

What aerial capture is, and what it is not.

  • Flown within CASA's rules and any required airspace approvals, with the consent of the landowner or occupier.
  • Used to record places. Aircraft are not used to observe, watch or follow people.
  • Imagery is still photographs and video only. No audio is recorded.
  • Carried out in accordance with the Surveillance Devices Act 2007 (NSW) and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Where a site cannot be flown, it is documented from the ground with photographs, measurements and video, and the report says so.
