About Factum
Facts, not assumptions.
Factum is Latin for "a thing done" — a fact, established and provable. It's the standard we hold every engagement to: we deal only in what can be verified, documented and stood behind.
Factum Investigations is a licensed private investigation firm based in Newcastle, operating across New South Wales. We work for individuals, solicitors, insurers and businesses who need a matter established with certainty — not guesswork, and not a story that happens to suit one side.
We operate deliberately without a public-facing profile. Investigative work depends on discretion, and that starts with how we present ourselves: no case studies naming clients, no staff biographies, no detail that could connect an engagement back to the people involved. What you can verify instead is our licensing, our process, and how we handle your matter once you engage us.
Licensing & compliance
Accountable, and licensed to prove it.
NSW Master Licence
Factum Investigations holds NSW Master Licence 000111255, issued and regulated under the Security Industry Act 1997 (NSW).
Regulated by SLED
Our licensing sits under the Security Licensing & Enforcement Directorate (SLED), the state regulator for investigative and security work.
Operating within the law
All work is conducted within the Surveillance Devices Act, the Privacy Act and the licensing conditions that govern private investigation in NSW.
How we work
A short code of conduct.
- We only accept instructions with a lawful, legitimate purpose.
- We investigate to establish fact, not to build a case for a predetermined outcome.
- We do not assist with surveillance, tracing or checks intended to harass, intimidate or stalk.
- We keep client identity and matter details confidential, indefinitely.
- We document evidence with a clear chain of custody from collection to report.
- We tell you when something isn't lawful or achievable, rather than take the fee anyway.
